Not that I'm some experienced "dater" by any means, but this scenario sounds odd to me... Of course, it doesn't matter one bit what we think. Gen-X’ers, Gen Y-ers, Gen-Whatever’ers who are having a hard enough time navigating massive student loan debts, high rents, and a difficult job market. Maybe hoping to bump into another one every once in awhile and ask how to get to port, but everybody’s navigation seems to be broken.

On top of talking to you in a totally platonic way, the complete lack of any romantic overture may indicate that you're not on a date.
Not knowing if it's a date or just hanging out begins at the ask.
You think that the spark between the two of you is palpable, but at the same time you're not sure if you're on an actual date.
When you first get together with a potential romantic partner, confusion about whether you're on a date or just hanging out is common.
Meanwhile, your new guy thinks you two really are dating – he just tried to be chill about it.
Plentyoffish dating forums are a place to meet singles and get dating advice or share dating experiences etc.Who really knows that much about the next five years? So you met this amazing guy and are finally into someone for the first time in forever. What if you ended up with your high school sweetheart?Instead of being totally excited and happy, you’re wondering if it’s OK that he says you two are just “hanging out.” It’s totally fine because if you’re meant to be a real couple, it will happen eventually. Maybe your teenage dates were group hangs that weren’t technically dates at all, and then you guys were super serious so you just hung out casually after that. It’s difficult to believe when so many relationships never really get off the ground these days, but it’s good to take things slow. Then again, maybe they didn’t actually lose sight of it because they never knew in the first place. Many members of the more recent generations have grown up just hanging out with each other. To add the icing on the cake, they are floundering through the dating world slash hookup culture and quickly discovering that nobody knows what the hell is going on. I think a big part of this is the fact that people [particularly younger men and women] have completely lost sight of what ‘dating’ actually means.
