In my embedded linux device dhcp client is running (dhcpcd) nad this dhcp client doesnt have any configuration file.
I have read somewhere using dhcp client you can register IP in DNS server. Hi, I am using embedded linux (SSV embedded linux). Now i want to register my embedded device ip into local DNS server for name service.
Hi all, I have Cent OS 6.3 configured as DHCP and DNS server.
DNS is configured to support ddnswhen XP DHCP clients connect to this server, they get an IP address and suffix from the DHCP server. I can then ping to these clients from all computers in the network (reverse DNS also works). I have 1 XP client configured on the DHCP server to get a fixed IP: this machine is not updated in the DNS record.2.
RHEL5.6, bind-9.3.6, and dhcp-3.0.5 So, after I fixed my problem with getting DHCP to parse the MAC addresses for these virtual machines, now I need to figure out how to get it to update DNS when one of those virtual hosts is up and active.
I've configured bind for d DNS and used ddns-update-style interim; update-static-leases on; key dhcpupdate zone 22.
Check the man page on the DHCP server and read up on "DYNAMIC DNS UPDATES". And i can see hostname has been set in DHCP Server.
