NHL players and their beards are a tradition unlike any other.What started with the New York Islanders of the 1980s has continued throughout the years as players grow their beards throughout their team’s playoff run, and they don’t groom it at all.
Sometimes beards are in, sometimes moustaches, less often sideburns and whiskers, and sometimes nothing at all.
The difference is that, in the past, the trends lasted for decades, not months.
